Our Most Precious Gift – Our Children

I decided that the best way to find out what children want was to ask them. So, on my trips to the coffee shop and the grocery store I focused on moms and dads hanging out and shopping with their children. I politely introduced myself and told them about Almost Vegan Cooking School and wanted to find out what favorite foods their children like to eat. My goal was to talk with ten families. I learned immediately that many families are already thinking healthy for their children by reducing visits to fast food joints. I also learned that many moms and dads don’t know what and how to get delicious healthy food in front of their kids. Keep reading.

Here is a simple tip. Get them involved. Communicate.

Ask them what their favorite foods are.

Ask them if they would like to work together and prepare and cook their favorite foods.

Ask them when they would like to get started.

Shop together

Cook together.

The parents I talked with were excited but concerned that they might not have the time. I fell back on the trusty “gradual approach” system and suggested that they set up a once a week cooking date with their child. I was quite direct and explained that making the time was as important as soccer practice, football practice, and video games.

The best thing is what they told me their favorite foods are.

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Hamburgers
French Fries
Chicken Nuggets
Burritos
